At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.
 

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

Role:

Reporting directly to the Wholesale Department Manager, this role is responsible for the credit and risk control of the department. 

The role has direct reports, and as a team ensures stock funding is delivered efficiently and that dealer facilities, limits, and terms support commercial objectives within approved risk appetite. 

Working closely with Honda Motor Europe-UK (HME-UK) Sales and stakeholders across Honda Finance Europe (HFE), the role builds strong dealer relationships and converts growth opportunities into well-governed funding. 

The role requires lending decisions within delegated authority. Governance is a core deliverable through robust controls, high-quality MI and reporting, documented decision trails, and effective oversight of processes, systems, and suppliers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and support the development of direct reports, through the training and development of the annual appraisal process. Setting team objectives and delivering results.
  • Review of Dealers performance through annual credit packs based on statutory accounts, HME-UK composites and increases to dealers funding requirements, with view to making own underwriting decision or making recommendation to the Wholesale Department Manager when outside of personal authority level.
  • Ownership of the department month end reporting in preparation for the associated committee and risk meetings.
  • Visiting dealers where necessary to discuss improvements to performance or company structure, or where further investigation is required to understand accounting policies.
  • Analysing new dealer and territory business plans with HME-UK and driving new dealer applications and non-hostile terminations.
  • Monitor and control stock in the case of distressed dealers. On site visits and uplifting of stock at termination date. Liaising with administrators and receivers and preparing letters of demand. Disposal of stock and debt reconciliation.
  • Ensure the department remains compliant with regulatory requirements by embedding controls, conducting regular audits, and updating of policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Liaising with other creditors, banks, and solicitors to ensure that where HFE require security this is properly taken and documented.
  • Deputise for the Wholesale Department Manager as required.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required

  • Significant previous experience of underwriting B2B credit proposals.
  • A strong understanding of financial analysis and credit processes is critical for this role.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and accountability across teams. 
  • Experience of people management, team engagement, and performance.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships and influence decision making at senior dealership levels.

Desirable

  • Experience within the automotive industry would be advantageous.
