At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

 

Role: 
The main purpose of this role is to manage tax risk effectively and efficiently across Europe whilst providing a value-added service to stakeholders and customers.  This role is supported by the provider of the Tax Managed Service which is managed by the Head of Group Finance, HME and acts across the European Honda organisation rather than being responsible for a single group company.

 

This role will play a crucial part in ensuring tax compliance and strategic tax planning for our organization. Your responsibilities will span across multiple countries within Europe, and you’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders. 

 

Travel across Europe will be required.

Main Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance Management

  • Managing Compliance: Working with PwC, you will oversee adherence to tax regulations across various European jurisdictions. This includes staying up-to-date with local tax laws, reporting requirements, and deadlines.
  • Corporate Tax (including Transfer Pricing) Compliance: Ensuring that all corporate tax compliance obligations are met accurately and on time.
  • Indirect Tax: Ensuring that all indirect tax compliance obligations (VAT, Intrastat, EC, Sales, etc) are met accurately and on time. 

 

Tax Audit Management

  • Managing Audits: Working with PwC and the relevant finance person in the country, oversee the tax audit, ensuring a pan e approach to audits and audit settlements.

 

Tax Strategy and Risk Management

  • Tax Risk Strategy: Developing and communicating tax risk strategies and policies across the business. This includes assessing potential risks and devising mitigation plans.
  • Strategic Tax Planning: Collaborating with senior management to create tax-efficient strategies that align with the company’s overall goals.

 

Year-End Reporting

  • Participating in Year-End Processes: You’ll contribute to year-end financial reporting, specifically related to tax matters. This involves preparing and reviewing relevant documentation.

 

Impact Assessment

  • Changes in Tax Law: Evaluating the impact of changes in tax legislation and accounting principles on the business. This involves providing insights to guide decision-making.
  • Accounting Principles: Understanding how tax law changes may affect financial statements and advising accordingly.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Credibility: As a trusted advisor, you’ll interact with stakeholders at various levels, including senior executives. Your communication skills and credibility are essential.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with operational and commercial teams to align tax strategies with business objectives.

 

 

Team Management

  • Guidance: Support and guide the VAT team in the Shared Service Centre in Krakow and liaise with the PwC team on a regular basis to coordinate and supervise activities.


Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required

  • Qualified accountant with in-house tax experience.
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations and IFRS.
  • Outcome-Focused Approach: Balancing technical expertise with a practical, business-oriented mindset.
  • Strong leadership and management skills coupled with full commitment to results achievement & accountability.
