Reporting to the Head of Motorsport, and working closely with the marketing and PR teams within the European Motorcycle and Car Divisions, the successful candidate will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a class leading PR programme to leverage Honda’s involvement in World Championship Racing. 


The role offers a great opportunity to gain experience working within a large organisation whilst at the same time operating in the international motorsports arena.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Achievement in targeted enhancement of Honda brand image
  • Identify the key opportunities for Honda’s European business through its participation in Motorsport and create an annual PR plan to leverage Honda’s involvement in two and 4 wheel World Championships – both in the specialist, and critically, non-specialist press
  • As part of the above plan create and manage all content, photo, video, etc through all traditional and social channels – encompassing wider business objectives
  • Management of racing PR budget and all agency relationships
  • Support local Honda Branch Motorsport activity and their involvement in leveraging World Championship Motorsport activities through PR – forge a strong relationship with all key Branch PR and Marketing staff
  • Monitor, evaluate and communicate Motorsport PR KPI’s across key branches
  • Support the depts Sponsorship acquisition and sponsor retention objectives
  • Support dept objectives in connecting HME staff with all Motorsport activity
  • Ensure a robust crisis management plan is in place and is adhered to by support staff on events
  • Prepare creative briefs for supporting agencies in line with business requirements
  • Report regularly on PR/social media activity/value to senior management and other business areas


Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • Significant experience of a similar role
  • Experience of creating PR strategy plans
  • Crisis management skills
  • Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to manage suppliers and control budgets
  • Fluency in English and ideally one other language
  • Well organised with the ability to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines
  • Strong team player
  • Creative – with the ability to influence key stakeholders within the business and target media externally
  • Availability to travel Internationally and be prepared to work long hours
  • High degree of alignment with Honda Philosophy
  • Thorough understanding of social media marketing practices
  • Professional sports enthusiast an advantage
