IT Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

 

Role:

This role leads the IT Procurement team at Honda Motor Europe (HME), which is part of the new Indirect Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Department. You will be helping deliver the vision, strategy, and objectives for the IT Strategic Indirect spend for the department and your stakeholders across the region.

 

The Category Manager role is responsible for leading, co-ordinating and managing all strategic sourcing activities across the assigned IT area of spend in the organisation, aligned with key stakeholders. Demonstrating value beyond traditional savings, the IT Procurement Category is engaged in supporting its stakeholders on a digital transformation for HME, so being open to change and having an analytical mindset is key.

 

This includes the initiatives in the planning and execution of IT procurement strategies to deliver value benefits and innovation to the organisation. Equally, the role will involve maintaining the policy compliance and governance model, while meeting the needs of several business areas.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing IT procurement strategy for all related projects
  • Deliver major procurement projects in EUC, Infrastructure, Connected Vehicles, SaaS and PaaS as well as major outsourced contracts 
  • Work with stakeholder departments in IT and beyond
  • Help stakeholders to manage budget and resources to ensure delivery of business plan objectives through the procurement process and offering commercial guidance
  • Develop an environment of continuous improvement where the team can proactively challenge the status quo and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Adhere to procurement governance, gain management approval and ensure department is fully promoted within organisation
  • Support escalations within the business from stakeholders and the Finance Procurement Centre (outsourced BPO)
  • Responsible for leading strategic projects, plus any related contract discussion and amendments in conjunction with Legal
  • Responsible for leading and structuring the RFx process that suits the business needs and requirements whilst fulfilling our governance and helping to get best value for HME
  • Lead key negotiations that reflect ongoing cost and process efficiencies that drive in long-term benefit to the organisation
  • Ensure cost models can be benchmarked and drive benefit to the bottom line
  • Having a leading role in supporting stakeholders in service reviews, contracts, supplier performance management and contract management
  • Develop and support strategic direction and present to management, with a recommended proposal, supplier sourcing decisions and implementing plans
  • Generation of status reports into the project management team covering key performance measurements and business planning activity

 

Qualifications, skills and experience: Required/Desirable

Required

  • Previous IT procurement experience on major and complex projects
  • Experience running a full tender process is essential ideally in multiple IT subcategories and services
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills at all levels including senior management with ability to influence an audience in a logical and persuasive manner
  • A proven track record of implementing major projects within large organisations
  • Ability to work to tight timelines whilst maintaining good stakeholder communications.
  • Proven track record of supplier relationship management, including evidence of effective negotiation skills within high value and complex procurement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently in order to achieve set objectives through a logical approach and technique
  • Strong data analysis
  • Strong influencing and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Ability to motivate remote teams to help drive change. Understand what changes need to be made and how to drive them at every level to senior management
  • Have the ability to convince people why process change is necessary and what the impact will be in the business. Experience of working with key stakeholder in designing the process change.
  • Ability to clearly evaluate amount and materiality of operational and non-operational tasks, then prioritise in order to achieve.

  • Have the ability to work over cross border environments and the ability to adapt to and communicate in differing cultures to achieve standardised business solutions.
