Role: 

This critical role will drive our brand delivery across seven separate Honda businesses – Automotive, Motorcycle, Lawn and Garden, Marine, ATV, Generators and Aftersales.

 

Outline of the role:

With strategic and leadership accountability for the Honda UK Corporate Communications, UK PR function and UK Events portfolio, you will drive the perception of Honda UK’s brand with key media, influencers, opinion formers and business stakeholders resulting in advocacy-based sales.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • By working with and forming ‘second to none’ relationships with both industry stakeholders and a broad range of media; develop and execute strategies to create a positive public brand image for Honda across all PR communication channels.
  • Accountability for the strategic development and delivery of National UK Events, Conferences, Media Events and Dealer Events, you will deliver both brand and product experiences to prospects, dealers, media and associates with the commercial objective of maximising profitable volume.
  • Establish regular contact with industry bodies and external key influencers to keep them informed about our organisations direction. Forge positive relationships with key decision makers to influence discussions and outcomes.
  • Be at the forefront of UK and industry news, and then educate Honda on how emerging trends may affect business and recommend how Honda can best react.
  • Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and editorial generating activity on an ongoing basis and position ROI proposals to the UK board.
  • Working closely with our European team, develop all PR messaging for Honda UK which you will then include in press releases, speeches, press kits, crisis communications, Q&A’s and statements. Be responsible for briefing and supporting senior UK personnel on delivery of messaging in public environments.
  • Be a personal ambassador and spokesperson for the Honda brand in the UK.
  • Lead and motivate a team of eight, plus an indirect agency structure to deliver against your strategic objectives. You will instil a huge sense of passion for our brand, while leading the team to be 100% commercially focused on our biggest PR opportunities.
  • Develop inspirational synergies across our seven businesses that increase effectiveness and embrace influencers in our diverse and unique brand.
  • Foster unparalleled relationships with senior management in marketing to ensure consistency in messaging and brand delivery. Jointly capitalise on all opportunities that cross over between functions.
  • Work with the European Vice President to develop the corporate CSR strategy for Europe then implement this new CSR direction in the UK business.
  • Operate as internal news owner. Share good news and external coverage to boost Associate and Dealer pride of association.
  • Own and manage the significant PR budget, Corporate Affairs and Events budgets. Review coverage, media and activity ROI to ensure effective spend at all times.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience required/desirable:

  • Significant credible experience in Public Relations, Events and Corporate Affairs leadership at senior level. (agency/client). Prior PR industry knowledge and a strong portfolio of positive media relationships is preferable.
  • Previous positive experience of leading a team of industry professionals to deliver against commercial objectives.
  • Outstanding communications skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Commercially astute and able to represent a business at senior level both internally and externally.
  • A people person and strong influencer able to impart information onto a range of personalities.
  • Extremely well organised, able to strategically plan and manage several diverse tasks at once.
  • A proven record of driving positive activity through external partner agencies.
  • Financially able with strong budget acumen.
