Role:
This role is responsible for overseeing the financial integrity, reporting, and performance of operations across multiple European countries. Working as part of the Senior Leadership team for Finance, the successful candidate will ensure consistent financial practices, compliance, and alignment with corporate objectives across all countries while driving a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.

This role is responsible for the strategic leadership of the team responsible for Financial Control across the Honda Motor Europe (HME) Sales branches.

Main Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a geographically dispersed team of Financial Controllers across Europe.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment across markets, ensuring local teams are supported and empowered.
  • Promote best practices and standardization across regions while respecting local compliance needs.

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent financial reporting in line with IFRS/GAAP and internal standards.
  • Review and consolidate regional financial results, providing analysis and insights to senior leadership.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across all European entities.

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with business leaders to input strategic initiatives, operational decisions, and financial planning.
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights and decision-making support.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies across jurisdictions.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks at both local and regional levels.

Process Improvement & Standardization

  • Drive continuous improvement and automation of financial processes, reporting tools, and internal controls.
  • Work with the Financial Operations team to move transactional/operational tasks to the external Shared Service Centre.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel within Europe to engage with regional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required

  • Recognized accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Significant progressive finance experience, including leadership of international teams.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-country financial operations and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS and local GAAPs; strong compliance and control orientation.
  • Experience in a matrixed or multinational corporate environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are an asset. 

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • A post graduation qualification in finance.
