At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.
Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.
Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Governance & Master Data Management (MDM) Senior expert to establish and oversee enterprise-wide data governance and MDM frameworks. This role will build and manage a team that enables data-driven decision-making, unlocks business value, and supports regulatory compliance.
Whilst the role is based in our European head office in Bracknell, significant travel will be expected across our regional operations and occasional international travel.
Main Responsibilities:
Data Governance
- Ensure governance and quality of master data across systems.
- Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Define and embed data ownership and stewardship roles across business units.
- Lead data quality initiatives, including profiling, monitoring, and remediation.
- Ensure compliance with internal data policies.
- Facilitate data governance councils and cross-functional working groups.
- Collaborate across the business to align data standards and definitions.
- Drive harmonisation across platforms to enable accurate reporting and personalisation.
- Implement controls for data lifecycle management, including onboarding, updates and offboarding.
Master Data Management
- Design and implement MDM strategy for core domains (e.g., customer, supplier, product).
- Oversee data modelling, taxonomy, and hierarchy management.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to integrate MDM into systems and workflows.
- Manage MDM tools and platforms, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Drive data harmonization across systems to support analytics and reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement and Enablement
- Partner across the business to align data initiatives
- Promote data literacy and awareness through training and communication
- Act as a trusted advisor on data-related risks, opportunities, and innovations.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required
- Significant experience in data governance, data management, or equivalent data roles.
- Proven ability to harmonize data across multiple systems and touchpoints.
- Understanding of data privacy and consent management practices.
- Proven experience leading teams in the implementation of governance and MDM frameworks in complex environments.
- Demonstrated leadership with excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
Desirable
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, DAMA) are highly desirable.
- Experience managing master data in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics).
- Strategic thinker with operational delivery capability.
- Passion for data ethics, sustainability, and responsible data use.
- Familiarity with data mesh, data fabric, and modern data architecture principle
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, ESG disclosures).
- Hands-on experience with governance and MDM tools (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Microsoft Purview).
