The Marketing department at Honda Motor Europe is responsible for the development and delivery of central marketing strategy and campaigns across 16 markets in Europe with the overall aim of creating brand consistency and presence in all markets whilst delivering the most efficient operation through scale and common activities.

After rolling out its Pan-European digital platform that supports all product divisions i.e. Cars, Motor Cycles and Power Products, Honda is now looking to evolve its website strategy to ensure it is fit for future business requirements whilst continuing to deliver a consistent brand experience.

In addition, Honda is also looking to further enhance its digital marketing capabilities and implement its Future retail strategy.

The Role

The Digital Marketing Section Manager will play a pivotal role in implementing and enhancing common digital systems architecture for Europe to ensure an efficient web presence across the region. Through a common ‘back room’ platform hosting the same functionality, the business will be able to deploy scale and consistency in all markets whilst keeping operational costs to a minimum.

The role will work closely within the rest of the Marketing Team to produce compelling strategies and content for on-going brand and product launch activities. 

With the increasing customer usage of the web, this role is vital for delivering a strong customer experience.  It is a very visible role throughout both HME head office and each market providing leadership for local marketing teams in the development of their own local strategies and plans.  It will require collaborative and influencing skills to ensure smooth implementation of strategy and delivery of digital assets.

This role will also be involved in the implementation of the European e-commerce and digital CRM strategy for Honda’s Automobile Division.

Main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the overall Marketing Strategy for Europe including Brand and Product Launch strategy through the active involvement with the rest of the European Marketing team, Product Planning, PR and local markets
  • Lead the completion of all digital systems projects working with HME ISD, and manage the sign off process
  • Manage effective relationships with supply partners which deliver value and quality and in particular lead and challenge the appointed European Digital Marketing agency to ensure maximum delivery effectiveness
  • Manage all key business stakeholders, Branch and other divisions senior management
  • Be a key partner in the development and deployment of all digital communications
  • Be ‘centre of excellence’ for all 16 markets and principal contact for local digital managers and develop and maintain ‘best practice’ guidelines to support Branches
  • Manage the digital executives team, allocating and prioritising workload for all digital activities and work flows
  • Manage the substantial Digital budget as per HME governance



  • Strong digital background is essential, including development and strategy.
  • Pan-European or International experience of digital platforms and digital campaigns is essential, with mobile experience.
  • The ability to manage complex systems/architecture projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management expertise, including experience of agile methodology – preferably with previous experience of being a Product Owner.
  • Natural communicator and negotiator with strong influencing skills, able to build and maintain good relationships across all cultures and disciplines
  • A strong ability to construct logical arguments and present them with conviction
  • Working knowledge of Search and SEO strategies as well as digital analytics.
  • The ability to interrogate ideas/concepts and work with the nominated agency to develop materials for markets to deploy locally
  • Capable of presenting to a range of audiences including internal meetings, agencies and external conferences with presence and style
  • Budget Management experience, financially and commercially astute with the ability to manage a considerable budget position
  • Team management
