Contract - Automobile PR & Press Fleet Manager

At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.


Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.





Reporting to the Automobile PR & Events Section Manager, you will support the PR operations of the Automobile business, as well as media, dealer and consumer events.


This role will drive brand delivery across the Honda Motor Europe UK automotive business. With accountability for managing automobile PR activities, including the Press Fleet, you will positively influence the perception of Honda UK’s brand with key media, influencers, opinion formers and business stakeholders resulting in advocacy-based sales.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Be an ambassador and spokesperson for the Honda Automobile brand in the UK.
  • Accountable for media relationship management for the UK Automobile business. Providing ‘exceptional’ stakeholder management with both industry and outside media to create a positive public brand image for Honda across all PR communication channels.
  • Production of press releases, press packs, film content, award entries and photography, as directed by Automobile PR & Events Section Manager
  • Be a point of contact for all automobile PR enquires from journalists, media, public and stakeholders.
  • Working with Honda Motor Europe (HME) and the Automobile PR & Events Section Manager, create a plan for launches and model changes at which you will host influential media, influencers and opinion formers.
  • Ownership and management of the Automobile press fleet and the associated budget. You will manage the fleet of approximately 70 cars (this can increase/decrease in line with business requirements) to deliver maximum commercial gains, always ensuring products are well utilised and in prime position to generate maximum media value.
  • Managing the press fleet will include - daily contact with media and key influencers, developing strong product knowledge of cars on fleet, implementing and updating a system whereby associated press coverage can be tracked, ordering and de-fleeting press cars at the right time, working closely with two Master technicians to ensure press fleet is prepared to the very highest standards prior to placement with journalists.
  • Agency management - Manage Product Placement agency to ensure most suitable Automobiles are being placed in relevant channels to gain maximum exposure. Manage Dealer PR agency to ensure successful regional coverage and high dealer take up.
  • Support the delivery of automobile media events and consumer and dealer events.
  • Pre-event, you will support in writing detailed event proposals to gain buy in from senior stakeholders on ROI, timings, venues, suppliers and budgets. Post-event, you will support compiling the event de-brief to evaluate performance against objectives.
  • Support with the management of the automobile PR and Events budget, including financial administration responsibility. For example, raising Purchase Orders, processing invoices and updating budget logs.
  • Support with stakeholder management - including Honda associates, third parties, dealers, field team, top management and agencies to share our plans and all the coverage that we get to motivate, excite and educate.


Qualifications, skills and experience required/desirable:

  • Experience of writing PR material
  • Track record of securing positive coverage via the PR channel.
  • Previous experience of the automobile media landscape.
  • Experience of owning and executing media and consumer events.
  • Openness to flexible working as this role will require weekend working, evening entertaining and some travel.
  • Outstanding communications skills both verbally and in writing.
  • A people person and strong influencer able to impart information onto a range of personalities.
  • Extremely well organised, able to plan and manage several diverse tasks at once.
  • Budget management.
