Connectivity Product Section Manager

At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

 

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

 

Role: 
Representing the New Business Department, Automobile Division, you will be part of the cross divisional Connectivity team which manages Connected Services for Honda throughout the European region.

 

The role acts as a product owner to build the connected services business by understanding and developing the customer value proposition. A strong team player is required to collaborate with ISD (IT systems), Customer Division (Aftersales), Honda R&D, and the Branch offices representing Honda in each market.

 

The role will be responsible for the operational results of the Connected Services business (subscription revenue, activation numbers, and penetration of car parc). To achieve this the role holder will need to manage and prioritise the improvements backlog, future model preparation, and develop sales and marketing activities to promote increased take up of connected services.

 

The role holder will need to blend their skills in project management, sales/business development, product management, into a cohesive strategy that can deliver Honda’s ambitious targets in this area.

 

Main Responsibilities: 
Product Owner

  • Development of the European connected service feature roadmap
  • Secure senior management sign off for each new model connected feature set
  • Act as a gateway or “product owner” to agree and prioritise changes to the connected services solution proposed by other business areas.
  • Analyse pricing, and competitor situation to propose appropriate price and promotion activities for all European markets.
  • Develop and gain insight of User Analytics to refine and improve services and business performance
  • Work on general continuous improvement of the connected services solution based on customer and business value.
  • Become the “go to” expert on product functions and benefits related to Connected Services


Market sensing and monitoring

  • Analyse market data, consumer trends, and competitor activity to develop insights that can be used to apply actions to support business operation, or the development of new connected services.
  • Analyse Honda results and propose counter measures or new actions to achieve committed business plans.
  • Support the Data Manager in the creation and development of business reporting. 


Project management

  • Development of clear business requirements 
  • Support ISD colleagues and suppliers in achieving efficient and effective solutions to requirements 
  • Involve and gain support of stakeholders around the business, including Honda Motor (Japan), HME Automobile senior management, Customer Division (Aftersales), and Branches (regional office in each market). 
  • Support User Acceptance Testing for new models and app updates


Supplier & contract management

  • Support the management of the suppliers responsible for developing the My Honda + app, provision of data, or other related connected services. 


Other

  • Honda Branch (market) Connected Services PIC (person in Charge) communications: Lead monthly progress meeting, annual events, App release notes, escalation route     
  • Approve subscription refunds outside of standard refund period
  • Support Honda Contact Centre with Connected Services queries
  • Manage customer communications for planned maintenance and promotional activity
  • Manage app language translations with preferred Honda translation supplier


Qualifications, skills and experience: Required/Desirable
Required

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written with experience of delivering coherent analyse, market insights and direction to stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Self-starter, someone who is able to understand business priorities and take action accordingly in a timely manner, with little supervision
  • Project management skills, including experience of successfully delivering digital projects on time and on budget. 
  • Confident in research, and able to select appropriate methods to fill gaps in consumer and competitor knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of the following: 
  • Pricing and promotion strategy
  • Digital Marketing / customer communication strategy
  • Retail operation / sales delivery 


Desirable

  • Business Development experience in a role with responsibility for delivery commercial results. 
  • European experience preferred, with ability to understand and cater for cultural differences
  • Confident managing and briefing agencies, large and small
  • Experience of a pan-European/ international business and stakeholder management
  • Experience of automotive industry
