This role has two key areas of focus:


  1. Responsibility for management, engagement, evaluation and coordination with branch teams in order to deliver outstanding PR & Social Media campaigns
  2. The clear ‘subject matter expert’ and strategic counsel on Honda’s European social media activities

The scope of this role includes automobile, motorcycle and power products divisions, as well as playing a key part in the determination of regional strategy for motorsport communications.


Main Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all liaison and communication with branch teams – using the Communications Coordinator as a key support
  • Instil best practice in PR & Social Media amongst branch teams through thought leadership, case studies and training programmes, improving their capabilities
  • Highlight areas where strategic investment is required to support and develop Honda’s presence in print, broadcast and online media, and build appropriate business cases
  • Ensure social channels are governed correctly in times of crisis, in line with wider corporate communications guidance.
  • Act as guardian of social media governance across European region, ensuring the highest standards and practices are met.
  • Provide strategic guidance to content creation teams in Corporate Communications, Automobile, Motorcycle and Power Products divisions to deliver outstanding creative in social media that is integrated into wider campaigns
  • The guardian of PR and social media campaign strategy, measurement and evaluation, working with Honda’s European evaluation agencies to identify cross-platform reporting opportunities (social, My Honda etc) and develop actionable insights to assist stakeholders across the business
  • Honda’s leading voice in Europe regarding strategic investment in next generation communication workflow and evaluation techniques (e.g. Sprinklr, Sysomos etc.)
  • Responsibility for accurate budget management and reporting
  • Provide guidance and consultancy to European Motorsports Manager in order to improve the link between motorsport activity and business benefit in the context of social media.
  • Coordinate with paid media agency to execute pan-E paid social activities to support major campaigns, and develop case studies to increase Honda knowledge and capabilities in this area.
  • Lead the relationship with HME’s key social strategy agency, ensuring maximum benefit for the business is gained from the relationship.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Clear experience of gaining results within the challenges of a matrix organisation across multiple geographies
  • Demonstrate strong social/digital experience, preferably within a major global company
  • Experience of working with multiple data sources and social workflow tools
  • Passionate about digital innovation; not satisfied with traditional marketing and communications models. An appetite to propose change especially in the digital arena.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social platforms, channels and networks e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram etc
  • A proven ability to develop winning strategies and plans that provide a clear direction and enable the business to achieve its goals
  • Excellent command of English language and proven writing skills
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to influence/gain confidence of senior management
  • Capable of influencing at senior levels in the organisation, amongst European and Japanese senior management
