Role:

This role contributes to delivering the vision, strategy and objectives for the Strategic Indirect spend across the region. 

 

The Category Manager role is responsible for leading and managing all strategic sourcing activities across the assigned Marketing area of spend in the organisation, aligned with key stakeholders.

 

This includes the initiatives in the planning and execution of procurement strategies to deliver value benefits and innovation to the organisation, but equally within the policy compliance and governance model, while meeting the needs of several business areas.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing procurement strategy for all related projects within the category assigned.
  • Work with stakeholder departments.
  • Manage budget and resources to ensure delivery of business plan objectives.
  • Develop an environment of continuous improvement where the team can challenge and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Adhere to procurement governance, gain management approval and ensure the department is fully promoted within the organisation.
  • Support escalations within the business from stakeholders and the Indirect Procurement Operations Centre (IPOC) (BPO)
  • Responsible for leading strategic projects, plus any related contracts
  • Responsible for leading and structuring the RFx process.
  • Lead key negotiations that reflect ongoing cost and process efficiencies that drive in long-term benefit to the organisation.
  • Ensure cost models can be benchmarked and drive benefit to the bottom line.
  • Contribute to the writing and review of legal contracts supporting the project described above.
  • Ensure commercial governance processes are followed both internally and externally.
  • Have a leading role in service reviews, contracts, supplier performance management and contract management.
  • Develop and support strategic direction and present to management, with recommended business case proposals, supplier sourcing decisions and implementing plans.
  • Generation of status reports into the project management team covering key performance measurements and business planning activity.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience required/desirable:

  • Previous procurement experience
  • Ideally some Marketing systems and processes experience
  • Experience running a full tender process is essential, ideally in Marketing (brand, media, print, agency) services.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills at all levels including senior management with ability to influence an audience in a logical and persuasive manner.
  • A proven track record of implementing major projects within large organisations.
  • A good level of understanding of the financial / process management.
  • Ability to work to tight timelines.
  • Proven track record of supplier relationship management, including evidence of effective negotiation skills within high value procurement.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently in order to achieve set objectives through logical approach and technique.
  • Strong presentation skills and strong data analysis
  • Strong influencing and decision-making skills
