At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

 

Role

Part of the Honda Motor Europe UK (HME-UK) Commercial Planning & Development team, this role is at the centre of the Car Division reporting to the Product & Business Planning Section Manager.  

The core purpose of this job is to ensure optimum availability of all models and the early identification and communication of supply risks and opportunities.  

 

Day to day activities will include monitoring, reporting, analysing and projecting Honda’s performance, car market trends and competitor activities, taking account of internal factors, market trend data and economic conditions.

A crucial element of this role is the accurate and timely communication of the UK’s mix requirements to HME on a monthly basis.  By doing so, the role contributes significantly to HME-UK achieving their overall sales plan.

 

The successful candidate will have to demonstrate a fast-paced, commercial and analytical aptitude as well as the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across the business, at all levels in both Branch and HME.
 

Main Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the monthly ‘Tanki’ (car ordering) process and ‘Niguri’ (supply overview) review ensuring both business and customer requirements are met not only for regular supply, but to support new model launches, tactical activity, model run outs, and backorder management.
  • Regular mix review of all models adjusting production where necessary.
  • Liaise with HME to ensure Tanki allocations are in line with branch requirements.
  • Issue relevant reports related to HME-UK’s production and sales performance to key stakeholders on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Contribute to HME-UK’s Sales Planning (SP) process with timely and accurate analysis of vehicle production and delivery information.
  • Study the customer demand to understand trends such as the sales channel mix, customer types and conquest ratios to ensure effective supply management that is reflective of the real situation.
  • Undertake regular analysis and reporting to provide sales and market forecasts, economic outlook and customer trends, to identify market opportunities and threats.
  • Strong dialogue with stakeholders to ensure understanding of market trends, as well as business objectives, performance, progress, issues, and countermeasures.
  • Be responsible for the operating and maintaining key reporting tools, including RAV (registration reporting) and MVRIS (SMMT reporting) for the car division.
  • Liaison with Supply Operations Manager to develop close working relationships between logistics team and business planning.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with Honda Motor Europe to ensure maximum collaboration in future model and production planning. 
  • As part of the wider Commercial Planning department provide support to the whole team as required.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Required: 

  • A good understanding of the UK automotive landscape
  • Outstanding planning skills and the ability to manage several diverse tasks at once, to be able to demonstrate delivery of tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate natural analytical inquisitiveness to further their understanding of a problem. 
  • Technical capability to manipulate large data sets in Excel.
  • Ability to clearly communicate results of analysis.
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects, prioritise responsibilities, and balance a varied workload.
  • Analytical, methodical and organised with brilliant attention to detail 
  • Self-starter who can follow through proposals to implementation and then review the impact of such proposals.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
