Role:

Reporting to the Legal & Risk General Manager, the role requires the ability to demonstrate broad risk management experience and have stakeholder management experiences at all levels.  The successful candidate will contribute to risk management in the European Region, aiming to manage Pan European risk in line with Honda global direction including crisis management.  This role is responsible for the line management of  both the Risk Management and the Data Protection department managers.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Management
  • Solely responsible and accountable for the annual risk within Honda Motor Europe (HME) [Bracknell office], coordinating cross functional management to deliver self-assessment; advise on the suitability of countermeasures  and ongoing monitoring of action plans
  • Overall responsibility for risk policies, processes, assessment and evaluation. Ensuring policies for the European group are appropriate, up to date, well documented and implemented appropriately.
  • Chair risk management committee for HME and Region
  • Supervise education and training of the Risk Management function.
  • Facilitate to prepare Business Contingency Plan in the European Region, HME, HME branches and Genpos
  • Ensure reporting of risk to the senior management team, Regional Operating Board (ROB) and internal and external auditors
  • Create & approve the annual plan for Risk Management
  • Periodical report to the Risk committee (HME and Regional)
  • Annual report to Honda Motor (HM) on risk evaluation
     
  1. Crisis Management
  • Monitor crisis incident such as earth quakes and terrorist attacks in the European Region along with cooperation of risk management members
  • Decide timely and appropriate an appropriate action when crisis incident occurs along with the Top Management
  • Supervise the education and training of crisis management
  • Provide oversight and challenge disaster recovery and business continuity management
  • Report to the related associate and division including HM risk management department on crisis incident in the Region
      
  1. Insurance Management
  • Manage Insurance excluding some insurance such as marine and logistics
  • Negotiate with brokers necessary insurances for HME and its branches and other Genpos at competitive premiums
  • Maintain relations with insurance service providers (brokers and key insurers)
  • Develop and implement strategic approach to how insured or insurable risks are managed and aligned with our risk profile – standardize, simply, consolidate. Leverage
     
  1. Data Protection
  • Lead & manage the Data Protection team
  • Maintain and facilitate data protection activities over HME, HME branches and Genpos along with legal department  
     
  1. Honda Corporate Governance and Global Confidentiality Policy
  • Lead Honda Corporate Governance self-assessment activities with cooperation from the legal department in line with HM direction
  • Supervise Global Confidentiality Policy activities along with legal department
     
  1. Budget
  • Approve annual budget plan for risk management department

 

Knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • Experience and achievements in risk management
  • Background in insurance and data protection
  • The role will suit someone who is well-organized, analytical, motivated to challenge and excellent in problem solving
  • Proven track record for managing a department & employees
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines; planning and prioritising time efficiently whilst maintaining high quality
  • Advanced MS Office skills (especially Power Point)
  • Flexibility to travel on the Company’s business as required
  • Language: English, additional European language is an advantage
  • Experiences with international work desirable
  • Understanding of Japanese culture and management practice is desirable
