At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

 

Role:
Based in the Honda Motor Europe (HME) Satellite office, Swindon and reporting to the Head of Product Compliance and Sustainability, your team will ensure regional sustainability compliance, contribute to global targets, and handle data collection for ELV, EPR, ESOS/EED, battery regulations, due diligence, and related sustainability requirements.  You will also collaborate with the Product Compliance department manager and Sustainability Reporting Lead to enhance sustainability communications and prepare for CSRD compliance.


This role is critical in advancing our commitment to sustainability and making a meaningful impact.


This role requires regular travel within the European region and potential for an annual trip to Japan.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare business plans, KPI’s, budgets, and roadmaps.
  • Oversee team training, schedules, performance reviews, and budget management.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to ensure sustainability compliance. 
  • Work with regulatory affairs, government affairs and external providers to understand and act on sustainability regulatory trends.
  • Ensure the accuracy of regional data collection for mandatory and voluntary reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Product Compliance department manager and the Sustainability Reporting lead to enhance sustainability communications and prepare for CSRD compliance.
  • Develop metrics, arrange audits, and advise on risk management for compliance.
  • Propose and implement sustainability activities.
  • Collaborate with Honda divisions to prepare key sustainability information for internal and external communication.
  • Summarise data, perform gap analysis, and implement countermeasures.
  • Monitor industry best practice and share new initiatives within Honda.
  • Represent Honda at relevant industry working groups and events.
  • Prepare and support internal and external audits.
  • Present proposals and outcomes to management and key stakeholders.


Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required

  • A Degree in sustainability, governmental affairs, compliance, business, law, or a related discipline.
  • An understanding of regulation and its role in driving sustainable business practice.
  • Knowledge of sustainability regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and explain to a wide-ranging audience.
  • Ability to balance a structured, analytical way of working with flexibility and concern for fast-evolving critical issues.
  • Ability to guide and inspire a team to achieve goals.
  • Ability to identify problems and devise effective solutions.
  • Able to provide useful feedback and open to receive constructive feedback.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritise activities, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Understand financial aspects and manage projects effectively.
  • Highly computer literate and numerate, with a competency in MS PowerPoint and Excel user.
  • Excellent data analysis skills.
  • Willing to travel across Europe and to Japan independently. 
  • Full Driving License to travel to between Honda locations.


Desirable

  • Significant experience working in a sustainability role, preferably with a multinational company.
  • Experience in preparing internal and external sustainability communications or working with communications teams.
  • Experience participating in relevant industry forums.
