At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

 

Role:

As a firm regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority it is essential that HFE’s activities are controlled effectively and comply with the relevant requirements and standards of the regulatory system. This Section Manager role is responsible for leading, co-ordinating, and managing all the governance that underpins the people, systems and controls of the departments within Retail Operations. This will be achieved through exceptional technical skills that will enable clear documentation of procedures, incident resolution, management of system defects, production of management information and smooth integration of business change. 

 

Reporting directly to the Head of Retail Operations, this role will act independently of the customer facing teams within and liaise regularly with the Risk and Compliance department. This ensures the role maintains a critical Compliance view, within the 1st line of defence.

 

This role is subject to satisfactory references to include a DBS Check and Financial Check. 


Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading Retail Operation’s first-line of defence compliance activity.
  • Proactively identifying areas of improvement to the customer journey through analysis of the cohorts within the target market and through complaint root cause analysis.
  • Maintaining the departmental risk register, ensuring risks are captured, assessed and appropriate countermeasures are implemented and recorded on the risk management system.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the regulatory environment to ensure proactive communication, intervention and countermeasures are timely and effective.
  • Supporting business readiness activities when new system updates are implemented. 
  • Managing department process, policies and procedures and responsible for maintaining governance around document management.
  • Designing and implementing robust department Management Information to cover:
    • Incidents and breaches.
    • Complaints.
    • Data Subject Access Requests.
    • Vulnerable customers and deceased customers.
  • Reporting first line monitoring results to the monthly Compliance and Risk committee.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of training and development.
  • Responsible for updating the risk management system (Riskonnect).
  • Acting as the first point of contact for the second line Risk and Compliance team.


Qualifications, skills and experience: 
Required

  • Working knowledge of the FCA regulatory framework, with the ability to interpret and apply the application of regulatory rules and standards to Retail Operations including Consumer Duty.
  • Experience of working in FCA regulated compliance department.
  • Effective Communicator at all levels. 
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Good knowledge and use of Microsoft office programs and IT environments.


Desirable

  • Experience working within the Motor Finance industry, in a customer facing role.
  • Familiar with building reporting on platforms such as MicroStrategy.
